There are 12 full time teachers in the department. We are a school where every child is treated as an individual. Students will answer one extract-based question on the Shakespearean play Macbeth. Our teaching assistants are Elklan trained; they are able to recognise the impairments that can happen within the communication chain and supply children with strategies and techniques to develop their ability to understand and memorise information.

Ursula was storytelling with our year 8 and 9’s, while our year 10 groups got the chance to explore Shakespeare in a different smithiills fun way of learning. When this occurs, our staff provide support in the classroom and through individual and group learning programmes within a caring and supportive environment. We will be producing a booklet of all the stories to share in the school library in smithipls very near future. They will be expected to respond analytically to the extract, as well as responding to the novel as a whole.
